Secret Restaurant Recipes

A couple years ago, my wife received a recipe book from a friend.  She really wanted to get away from making the same old thing and try something new.  She looked over a few recipes and decided which ones to make.  When she made the entrees from the recipe book, it was ok, but nothing to brag about.

Since then, she would try different recipes and again, there was something missing from these new (or different) recipes that she would try.  Therefore, she kept looking for new recipes and then one day, she googled “restaurant recipes”.  There was a ton of websites that had free information on how to make food the way well-known restaurants would make their dishes.  From that day forward, she started trying recipes that were geared towards what restaurants used.

She especially enjoyed making holiday food that national chains created.  The recipes were creative and delicious.  In addition, there were not any fruitcakes.  

Now as far as my eight-year old daughter and I were concerned – we were the lucky recipients of these new dishes.  We would be the judge of the “secret restaurant recipes” to see whether we liked them or not.  Most were pretty good – actually, outstanding!

Time went by and then I thought I would cook some nights for my family.  The recipes were not hard to follow – however, my wife would help me at times, but for the most part, it was pretty easy.  Therefore, if I could do it – I know that anyone could do it as well.  When I cooked for my family in the past – I would basically need a fire permit in the kitchen (ok – just kidding – but I was a pretty bad cook).

Now days I’m getting into the swing of cooking all the time.  Sometimes, I try to gently nudge my wife out of the kitchen, telling her that ‘I am the man of the house, so let me put on your apron and I can start making Chicago styled Pizza’.  Wow – times have changed!

Using recipes that are so called copycats from famous restaurants are great to use.  Unfortunately, I’m not allowed to use any names of restaurants (I don’t think I am anyway, but it’s best to be on the safe side); however, there are many recipes that these well-known restaurants use and the average person can use as well.

There are websites out there where you can find great recipes that restaurants use.  Your taste buds will be glad if you check them out!
