I’ve
been lifting weights for years and I’m currently doing Insanity to get
more cardio. However, my wife just bought another product by beach body
named Chalean Extreme Workout. It’s like Beach Body’s Insanity except
that you have to have some weights to workout with (there are
alternatives to the weights though).
Before
I do any type of workout program that has DVDs – I sit down and watch
them, just to get the jist of how to do their exercises. Concerning
Chalean’s program, the video starts out with them warming up. To tell
you the truth – the moves were more like what strippers do in clubs and I
told my wife there was no way in the world I was going to do the
warm-ups. You’ll know it when you see it. If you feel comfortable
doing these type of moves – then go for it. However, if you don’t, then
go ahead and do some stretches and then jog in place for a few minutes.
I
really didn’t take Chalean’s Extreme program that seriously when I
first saw it (especially the workouts) – but then after the warm-ups,
Chalean and her group of friends that were positioned behind her started
lifting weights. Let me tell you one thing – Chalean knows how to lift
weights on a professional level. Here is an example:
I
know she was doing the right thing when she was performing arm curls.
The way to really do this type of exercise is to do them slowly, but
the clincher is not when you raise the dumbbells to your shoulders, but
when you lower the weights back down to your waist. It is to be done
very slowly. This is what really makes the muscle burn.
I
kept watching her do exercise after exercise. She was doing everything
correctly from my point of view – and she made the viewers of the video
work hard. It was a truly amazing video.
The
package came with eight DVDs for you to work out various muscles. If
you don’t have weights at home, you can use a workout band that will
work your muscles as well. There is really no difference between the
two tools.
I
would recommend anyone use the Chalean Xtreme Workout Program –
however, consult your doctor before exercising. Also, one more thing.
I want to make sure you know that there have been many questions posed
to me over the past years about women lifting weights. They are
concerned that they will build massive muscles. The answer to that is
no. Men will develop muscles when lifting weights, but they have
testosterone that bulks them up – women don’t have this chemical pumping
through their veins. I think when people see women bodybuilders on
television with huge muscles – they end up believing that lifting
weights bulk women up as well as men. When you do see something like
this, that is because the female bodybuilder is probably on a growth
hormone (steroids).
Women
can expect to see fat burn off while defining their muscles when using
Chalean’s program. However, men can expect to gain muscle and become
more ripped. You really can’t lose on this program and that’s why I’m
giving it a thumbs up!
